Subsurface irrigation - water directly at the roots

A lot of water is wasted when watering with a can or garden hose. The soil does become moist on the surface, but we usually don't water enough for enough water to reach the roots of the plants. In addition, water evaporates when watering, especially when the sun is shining. To avoid this and to supply the plants with sufficient water, subsurface irrigation is recommended. The people of ancient Egypt already recognized this and practiced underground irrigation with clay pots. Today we no longer have to resort to clay jugs. For this purpose, we have developed ecotube, a pearl hose that has revolutionized subsurface irrigation thanks to its homogeneous water delivery over 100 m.

What is subsurface irrigation?

With subsurface irrigation - as the name suggests, the soil is not poured from above, but from below. This means that the system is buried underground. To do this, a small, narrow trench is dug at the points where irrigation is to be carried out. The pearl hose is then laid in there. Since you are very flexible, you can install it in the garden according to your needs. You can lay it in an arch as well as at right angles using the T-connectors. After laying, the trench is filled with earth again and the subsurface irrigation is only connected to the tap. A pressure reducer that is connected between the tap and the ecotube ensures the correct pressure. Installed in this way, approximately 1.3 liters of water are released into the ground per hour and meter, permanently moistening it without water being able to evaporate.

You cannot tell from above whether subsurface irrigation is working because the water does not penetrate upwards and moisten the soil. This also makes sense, because in the upper areas where there are no roots, the soil does not have to be moist.
